Waterfront camping, scenic vistas, incredible fishing, uncrowded boating and ideal wind conditions for sailing and windsurfing make Eleven Mile a best bet for all visitors. The park is open year-round, offering spectacular Rocky Mountain sunsets and plenty of room to breathe!
The Setting
Eleven Mile State Park offers scenic camping in all seasons and is especially spectacular in the autumn when fall colors abound. The park becomes a sea of vibrant yellow, bright orange, and wonderful red—the perfect backdrop for fall picnicking, camping and fishing.
Eleven Mile State Park has 15 well-maintained picnic sites to accommodate day-use visitors. These sites are located primarily in the North Shore area, where visitors can eat a picnic lunch while enjoying the peaceful background of the water lapping at the shore. A universal access picnic site is located at the North Shore Amphitheatre.
The park offers five miles of scenic hiking, biking and horseback riding trails all located in the Coyote Ridge/Backcountry area. The Coyote Ridge Interpretive Trail, a self-guided nature trail loop that departs from the Coyote Ridge parking lot and winds its way along a low ridge, is 1.35 miles in length. The trail is split into two loops (Ponderosa and Aspen) that join in the middle to form a figure eight. Hiking this easy trail at a leisurely pace through the micro-ecosystems found in the hills and meadows takes about an hour.
Year round, anglers can enjoy incredible fishing at Eleven Mile--ice fishing in winter, and boating and shore fishing in the spring, summer and fall. The lake is stocked with kokanee salmon, cutthroat and rainbow trout. Northern pike are plentiful and carp abound in the shallow bays and inlets, providing great bow-fishing opportunities.
The Facility
Visitors may choose from a variety of campsites at Eleven Mile's 349 site facility. Rocky Ridge campground offers sites nestled among trees and rocky outcrops. North Shore campground offers open lakeshore sites, while more secluded sites are available at the Stoll Mountain, Howbert Point and Cross Creek campgrounds. The backcountry sites are perfect for those who are willing to pack or boat in.
Campsites can accommodate tents, pickup campers, trailers and motor homes. Electrical hookups, offered at 52 sites in Rocky Ridge (Loops A, B & D), are also available. Showers and a laundry facility are located at the camper services building and pressurized hydrants are centrally located in the North Shore and Rocky Ridge campgrounds. In the Backcountry campground, 25 primitive walk-in or boat-in campsites are available to visitors desiring a more secluded and natural experience.
Eleven Mile Sports and Marina is a full service marina located right in the park. Visit the marina for mountain bike rentals, fishing equipment and rentals, and guided fishing trips.
