Park: Tomoka State Park
I love Tomoka. There is so much to do! Ormand Beach is just a short drive away having the river right there for kayaking and fishing is great! I would not swim there though. They do have alligators. But the scenery is wonderful. They have beautiful birds and lots of wildlife to watch. The museum is great to walk through a get a glimpse of Florida's history. I wish the park would ask the campers at check in if they would be willing to donate 1, 3 or 5 dollars to restore the statue. It is a shame to see it wasting away. This park is easier to get into than Anastasia and offers so much more to do. The sites are large and comfortable. If you want to take a trip to St Augustine it is just a quick ride up 95 or for more scenery you can drive up A1A to see the coast. We stay there a lot.

Our family has been going to Juniper Springs campground every Thanksgiving since 1989. Our Father the late G.E. Tschudi started this great tradition 18 yrs ago. We now have a whole generation of children who can't fathom the idea of having a Thanksgiving in a house! Our first camping trip consisted of 11 campers and now it's up to 113 campers!

Pets are permitted in all day use areas at all Florida State Parks. They must be kept on a hand-held leash that is six-feet or shorter and be well-behaved. Please click here for more information.

Visitors may make reservations from a minimum of one day up to eleven
months in advance of their arrival date. For example, if a visitor calls on
December 5, 2002 they may make a reservation for an arrival date up through
November 5, 2003.

Sea Turtles of Topsail at Topsail Hill Preserve SP 7/13/06 Time: 9:00am
The majestic Sea Turtles are gearing up for another reproductive season. Learn the facts about common Sea Turtles at Topsail. Be a part of a enlightening program and see what you can do to help preserve these awe inspiring creatures of the sea. Park at the Day-Use area on Hwy 30A and take a short walk with park staff to the clubhouse. Program starts at 9:15am. For more information call (850 )267-0299.

Birds of Prey at Topsail Hill Preserve SP 7/22/06 Time: 9:00am
Come and join an exciting indoor interpretive on the birds that deserve respect. Learn about owls, ospreys, hawks, and more interesting hunters in the sky. Park at the Day-Use area off Hwy 30A. Kids Fishing Workshop at Washington Oaks Gardens SP 7/27/06-7/28/06 Time: 10:00am-2:00pm
The Friends of Washington Oaks State Gardens will be offering Kids' Saltwater Fishing workshops, sponsored by Coastal Outdoor Center of St. Augustine. A Florida Park Ranger will illustrate techniques anglers use to catch fish and the importance of conservation and safety. Participants will learn to identify saltwater fish species of the area as well as how to use a fishing rod and reel. Each workshop will involve hands-on experience, allowing participants to fish along the Intracoastal Waterway applying newly acquired skills. Call for more information (386) 446-6783.
