Park: Inks Lake State Park
Absolutely the best state park in Texas. The scenery, the shelters, the fishing, the hiking, the biking, and the way the fingers of the lake intertwine in through the park make it a great place for tent camping with water access everywhere. Highly recommended.

Park: Tyler State Park
Tyler State Park is one that is close and most beautifulState Parks around! They have interpretive programs, hiking areas, paddle boats and hills with the tallest Loblolly pines! If you mountain bike, or just like to kick back and float a bobber, this place is for you!

Murder Mystery at Texas State Railroad SP 7/8/06 Time: 5:00pm-8:30pm
The Friends of the Texas State Railroad bring to you a night filled with Mystery, Murder, Mayhem and Mirth combined with an elegant evening of dining. The performance and dinner are presented to you on the vintage steam train as it rumbles down the track. 5-8:30 p.m.; fee $100 per person; reservations required, (903) 391-0086. Summer Science Camp at Landmark Inn SHS 7/11/06-7/13/06 & 7/18/06-7/20/06 Time: 9:00am-4:00pm

Get smart and get wet! A fun, learning experience for kids 9-12, taught by Mrs. Madaline Sherrill, with science investigations, biology, ecology and art components. Water games and outdoor classroom at the Medina River and the millstream. 9 a.m.-4 p.m.; fee $45 per child; register at the park office for either session or call for details (830) 931-2133.

Junior Angler Fishing Clinic and Family Fishing Celebration at Bastrop SP 7/22/06

Let's go fishing! This free clinic is for boys and girls ages 6-13. We will be giving out prizes and teaching the basics of freshwater fishing. After our new anglers complete all learning stations, they will become Certified Junior Anglers and we'll all go fishing. Fishing rods, reels and bait supplied. Parents should accompany their children. A hat, water, closed-toed shoes, insect repellent and sunblock are strongly suggested. Fishing licenses are not required. 9 a.m.-noon; regular park admission fees apply (512) 321-2101.
